KTM has announced a new 250 cc variant to its Duke flagship which will be available in India from the end of 2015 or the start of 2016. The new Duke is for those who are always confused between the 200 and 390 offerings. It would be a balance between the performance and economy of the new super sport bike segment and would be a tough competitor for many upcoming 250 cc segment bikes. It seems as if KTM has planned a domination program on each racing segment.
Design & Style
KTM 250 Duke has the same naked designing as the other Duke Flagship models. The orange framework below its body line is a sure shot head turner, making it an intensely appealing substance on the road.
Engine & Performance
The 250 Duke has a 248.8 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine, producing a peak of 30.7 BHP @ 9000 rpm and 24 NM of torque @ 7250 rpm. The new machine uses a power assisted slipper clutch with anti-hopping technology. It has the same 6-speed transmission which is used on the earlier Dukes. Sharing the same performance oriented vision of its elder brothers; the continuous flow of cooling liquid with water pump helps it to stay calm after those hard sprints also. The ultra-light weight engine adds up to the performance of the street machine.
Brakes & Suspension
The braking is handled in the front by a disc brake measuring 300 mm with 4-pot brake caliper and the rear is managed by a disc of 230 mm with 1-pot brake caliper. It retains its 43 mm upside down WP suspension for the front and a WP monoshock suspension at the rear from its ancestors, having a 150 mm travel of both the suspensions.
Comfort while Riding
Riding position of the KTM Duke 250 is ideal for every kind of terrain it faces. The ground clearance of 170 mm makes it safe from the road obstacles and the 800 mm seat height makes it comfortable for those with an average height. Overall, it’s much more comfortable and stable performer than others.
